Emmanuel College’s Volunteer Corps once again rallied to the call and arrived early in the morning on April 14, 2011, to help install 400 plants around the library’s new reading plaza.
Volunteers included local alumni, the men’s basketball team, this summer’s Costa Rica missions team, and members of the Emmanuel College staff.
Within one hour, all 400 plants were sorted and arranged according to the landscape plan. From 9 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., volunteers dug holes and put plants into the ground. Lunch was provided at the Emmanuel College Dining Hall.
“The work that the alumni, students, staff and team members accomplished enhances the landscape of the EC Library area. Thanks to each of you who came to help. You are appreciated!” says EC Alumni President Sherm Smith.
As always, the Volunteer Corps offers more than just a way of assisting the college. It provides an opportunity for alumni of all ages to fellowship with current students and staff.
