Director of Alumni Relations Harrell Queen and President Michael Stewart are traveling the Southeast in 2011 to host dinners for EC Alumni Chapters. So far their travels have taken them on a tour of Florida and Georgia. Look for them to visit a chapter area near you soon. They are headed up to South Carolina next to attend The Gathering in Charleston March 24-27.

Travel to Charleston, S.C., by air, car, train or RV… It doesn’t matter how you get there, but you will be glad you did. Longtime Charleston residents Charlotte and Jan Humphries have planned an exciting weekend just for EC Alumni and Friends. The itinerary for March 24-27 includes:
Thursday, March 24: Fort Moultrie and Gullah dinner on Sullivan’s Island
On January 6-9, the Emmanuel College student body brought in 2011 with New Beginnings weekend. This annual four-day set of services consists of worship, learning and fellowship to encourage students as they begin the year with a fresh start.
The School of Christian Ministries of Emmanuel College inaugurated two new awards in October 2010: the G. Earl Beatty Servant Leadership Award and the Garnet Pike Visionary Leadership Award. Both awards are named in honor of former deans of the School of Christian Ministries and were bestowed upon their namesakes at the premiere SCM reunion.
Emmanuel College Alumna Mollie Walton Corbett (’95) sang “God Bless America” during the seventh-inning stretch of Game 5 of the World Series on Nov. 1. Her performance was viewed by more than 50,000 fans in Texas Rangers Stadium and broadcast to millions of television viewers.
Despite the massive crowds, Corbett says she found herself surprisingly calm when the big moment came.
