TJ Rosene is entering his third year as the EC men’s head basketball coach. He is beginning his seventh year as a head coach in the SSAC. Rosene’s first year at EC was one for the ages. The Lions took their first trip ever to the NAIA National Tournament in Kansas City.
Rosene began his coaching career at conference foe, Reinhardt College. He spent one year as the men’s basketball assistant coach before taking over the women’s program in 2002. It was there that he led the team to back-to-back school records for wins in a season. In 2003-2004, he was named the Conference Coach of the Year. In 2005, Rosene made the transition to the head men’s coach for the next two years.
TJ earned his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from Reinhardt College and a Master’s in Education from Troy University. He played high school basketball at Oconee County High School in Watkinsville, Georgia. He played for his father, Bob Rosene, who had a very successful coaching career in California and Georgia. Rosene set many school records in just three years at Oconee. Out of high school he signed with Presbyterian College before transferring to Reinhardt College and finishing his career.
This past summer while working for USA Basketball International, Rosene led a team of college all-stars on a tour throughout Europe that began in Bosnia and ended in Italy. He is also set to lead a team through Spain this coming Summer 2009.
Rosene says he is excited about serving at Emmanuel. “Emmanuel is passionate about doing God’s work and provides a first class family atmosphere.” TJ and his wife, Erin, a local teacher at Royston Elementary, have a two-year-old son named Boston and a one-year-old daughter named Isabella. They reside in Franklin Springs, GA.
