Mike Bona is currently serving both as Athletics Director and Head Women's Basketball Coach at Emmanuel College. Coach Bona has had an outstanding career as both a coach and an administrator. Based on his 72% winning record (560 wins & 224 losses), he was inducted into the Atlanta Tip-Off Club of Georgia's Winningest Basketball Coaches in 1998. He has been named either Regional or State Women's Basketball Coach of the Year twenty-seven times during his coaching career at Emmanuel. In 1991 he was selected by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association as the Converse Junior College Women's National Coach of the Year.
He has been an Athletic Director, Basketball Coach, or both at Emmanuel College for over 35 years.
Coach Bona is a graduate of Emmanuel College (AA degree), Belmont Abbey College (BS degree) and Georgia State University (MA in Physical Education). He is married to his wife Gloria who currently serves as Assistant Principal at Central Franklin Elementary School in Carnesville, Georgia. They have two sons, Eric and Kyle.
Aaron comes to Georgia from Fort Smith, Arkansas where he has been completing his PhD from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.
Aaron was an honor student at Crowley Ridge College in Paragould, Arkansas where he played both baseball and basketball before transferring toHarding University in Searcy,Arkansas. He graduated Magna Cum Laude at Harding University in 1996 with a major in Kinesiology and a minor in Psychology. In 2001, Aaron completed his Master of Science Education at Harding University. Since that time, Aaron has been enrolled in a PhD program, teaching junior and senior level classes and working as a full-time youth pastor.
Aaron has been involved in baseball for a long time and continues to work on his skills by teaching and leading baseball camps. Aaron turned down numerous baseball offers after finishing at Harding University including a minor league contract with the Atlanta Braves.
Emmanuel College is excited to have Aaron on board and we are certain with his background and his desire to minister to young people, that he will make an impact in both the baseball and Kinesiology programs.
Aaron is married to Billie Jean and has two very beautiful daughters, Eden Jewell and Lily Grace.
