The Lions and Lady Lions Tennis Teams met Spartanburg Methodist College on Emmanuel’s courts Thursday and came away with one win and one loss.  While the Lions lost 1-8, they got solid performances throughout the lineup.  The one win came with Trevor Lanier at the no. 2 singles spot.  Trevor continues to improve and is showing himself capable of competing against the best competition.  The Lady Lions won 7-2, faltering only at no. 3 doubles and no. 6 singles.

 

Women’s Doubles

Rochelle Dobbs and Johnna Mouchet def. Swain and Thompson, 8-5.

Emily Giles and Hazel Jeffers def. Laing and Harper, 8-2.

Kayla Duncan and Anne MacMillan lost to Smith and McClure, 7-9.

 

Singles

Rochelle Dobbs def. Laing, 6-3, 6-4.

Hazel Jeffers def. Swain, 6-1, 6-1.

Emily Giles def. Thompson, 6-4, 6-2.

Johnna Mouchet def. Harper, 6-0, 6-0.

Ashlyn Holland def. Smith, 6-3, 6-3.

Anne MacMillan lost to McClure, 3-6, 6-7 (10-12).

 

Men’s Doubles

Phillips and Lanier lost to Ranguelov and Shelley, 3-8.

Smith and Harris lost to Dudley and Arledge, 1-8.

No. 3 doubles forfeited

 

Men’s Singles

Colby Phillips lost to Ranguelov, 1-6, 0-6.

Trevor Lanier def. Dudley 4-6, 6-3 (10-8).

Adam Smith lost to Shelley, 4-6, 2-6.

Johnathan Harris lost to Arledge, 2-6, 2-6.

Lanny Farmer lost to Bosnell, 1-6, 0-6.

No. 6 singles forfeited.
