Softball Team wins NCCAA South Region ChampionshipSoftball Team wins NCCAA South Region Championship

Michael S. Stewart, Emmanuel College (EC) President, and Ricky Sanders, EC Lady Lions Softball Head Coach, are excited and proud to announce that EC Lady Lions’ Softball team has won the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) 2008 South Region Championship.
The EC Lady Lions faced long-time rival North Greenville University (NGU) (Tigerville, SC) Lady Crusaders in a recent 3-game head-to-head showdown. The Lady Lions rebounded after a double-header split that went NGU 4, EC 1, and NGU 2, EC 6. In game three of the series the EC Lady Lions outscored the NGU Lady Crusaders 8 to 6 to capture the NCCAA 2008 South Region Championship. The Lady Lions currently own an overall record of 32-22-1. During final ceremonies eight (8) of the EC Lady Lions were recognized as members of the NCCAA 2008 South All-Region Team.
Heather Nicole Vaughn, daughter of Billy & Judy Vaughn of Royston, is a senior Early Childhood Education major. Kasey Reed, daughter of Terry & Kay Reed, is a native of Toccoa, Georgia and is a graduate of Stephens County High School. She is a senior Kinesiology (Exercise Science) major. Haley Freeman, daughter of David & Tamara Freeman, is a resident of Nicholson, Georgia. She is a senior Business Administration major. Haley is a graduate of Jackson County High School.
Caitlin Bryan is a senior Communication Studies major with an emphasis in multimedia presentation. She is a graduate of JM Tate High School. Caitlin, daughter of Ronald Kenneth Bryan, is a resident of Walnut Hill, Florida. Kayla McNeal is a junior majoring in Early Childhood Education. She is a graduate of Jackson County High School. Kayla resides in Braselton, Georgia with her parents Tony & Lisa McNeal. Justine Kroner, is a freshman majoring in Business Administration with a minor in Kinesiology, is a graduate of Henry County High School. Justine, daughter of John Kroner, is a resident of McDonough, Georgia.
Shanna Gibbs is a senior majoring in Early Childhood Education. She is a graduate of Jackson County High School and resides in Commerce, Georgia with her parents Terry & Margie Gibbs. Jenny Holland is a senior also majoring in Early Childhood Education. She is a graduate of Rockmart High School. Jenny, daughter of Peggy Holland, resides is Bethlehem, Georgia. The Lady Crusaders finished their 2007 2008 season with an overall record of 19-28. Buster Sturkie serves the NGU Lady Crusaders as Head Coach. Ty Porter and Doug Eargle serve as Assistant Coaches. | |||||||||
