Department OverviewDepartment Overview
The School of Christian Ministries was established at Emmanuel College in 1972 to provide four-year baccalaureate studies in Bible and Christian Ministry. As an academic department within Emmanuel College, it offers a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degree in Christian Ministries, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Worship and Music Ministry. The Bachelor of Arts degree differs primarily from the Bachelor of Science degrees by requiring courses in New Testament Greek.

Both of the Bachelor degree programs incorporate the college liberal arts educational core with biblical, theological, and ministry courses. The Christian Ministries degree provides students an additional three course concentration in one of three selected areas: pastoral ministries, missions, or youth ministries. The Music Ministry degree also offers additional courses specifically designed to train those planning on entering into the area of music ministry within the church. A basic purpose of both programs is to promote Christian understanding, spiritual formation, character development, and basic ministry skills. Students who graduate from the School of Christian Ministries will have had the necessary studies to assist them in developing a biblical understanding of the world, the opportunity to participate in volunteer Christian service, as well as the opportunity to combine their classroom learning with real-life training in an extended internship experience. Christian faith, Christian practice, and practical training are inseparable elements in the educational experience of the degree programs offered by the School of Christian Ministries.
