EC Men's Basketball Wins Regional Championship

 

Emmanuel College's Men's Basketball Team is the 2009 National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) South Region Champion.

 

The Lions fought-off the hard-playing Hawks from Chowan University (Murfreesboro NC) 95-92 in championship play on Wednesday, 11 March.

 

According to http://www.gocuhawks.com/, EC erased a 17-point second half deficit to come from behind to beat Chowan 95-92 in the NCCAA South Region Championship game.The final two minutes of the game featured two ties and two lead changes, but it was the Lions who would come out on top tonight.

 

Five EC Lions spearheaded the scoring effort with double-digit scoring drives. Tedrick Hudson lead the EC scoring effort with 33 points; going 11 of 19 from the floor with 2 outside the 3-point line, and going 9 of 11 from the free-throw line. Ben Brim netted 15 points, Jaevas McLendon scored 14 points, and Shawn Courtney and Avery Morris both netted 11 points.

 

The EC Lions go to the NCCAA National Tournament hosted by the Oakland City University in Indiana. Championship play begins March 19.
