ALPHA Weekend Kicks Off Fall Semester

As students return and incoming freshmen get settled into Fall Semester 2008, Emmanuel College celebrates this new school year with ALPHA Weekend services featuring Campus Pastor Chris Maxwell in the John W. Swails Center on campus August 14-16.

With EC students leading worship, performing drama, and sharing testimonies, Pastor Chris will speak about these four portions of the college theme:

•    Thursday, Aug. 14, 10 a.m. – Becoming Christ-like Disciples (Luke 19:1-10)
•    Friday, Aug. 15, 7 p.m. – What is Faith? (Hebrews 11)
•    Saturday, Aug. 16, 7 p.m. – Why is Learning Important? (2 Timothy 2:14-19)
•    Sunday, 9 a.m. – How Can I Live the Life? (2 Timothy 2:20-26)

“To enter the new year at Emmanuel College, we want to open our hearts to God’s truth,” Pastor Chris says. “This year’s ALPHA Weekend highlights biblical principles of our mission statement:
Emmanuel College is a Christ-centered, liberal arts institution which strives to prepare students to become Christ-like disciples who integrate faith, learning, and living for effective careers, scholarship, and service.

“Plan to enter this new season of education by experiencing God,” he says. “Become a true follower of Christ in this world of hurt, confusion, poor decisions, and selfish motives. Let’s be changed together as we welcome Him into our faith, our learning and our living.”
