Study room policy

There are two group study rooms in the College library which are available to currently enrolled Emmanuel College students, faculty, and staff.  The primary purpose of these rooms is to provide a place for students in engage in collaborative and cooperative study in small groups.  Permanent assignment of rooms is not made to any particular academic group or social organization.

·         Study rooms are available for groups of three or more individuals to work on academic assignments for current classes.

·         Group study rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

·         Groups should limit use of study rooms to two hours if others are waiting.  Please be courteous to other groups by not occupying these rooms longer than needed to complete your group work. We want to make this service available to as many groups as possible.

·         Group study rooms are not available for functions such as committee meetings, classes, lectures or seminars.

·         Group study rooms are only available to Emmanuel College students, faculty, or staff.  A current ID card needs to be presented at the circulation desk to get access to a room and will be held at the desk while the room is used.  All students using the room need to sign in at the circulation desk.

·         Cooperation and courtesy will be appreciated while using the room including maintaining a quiet atmosphere in the library.

·         Food and drinks may not be taken into a study room as they are not allowed in the library.   Cell phones should only be used in the library lobby.

·         Groups may be asked to leave if they disturb others or engage in destructive or inappropriate behavior.  Users of the study rooms are responsible for leaving the rooms in a neat and orderly condition. Failure to do so may result in the denial of future requests to use a study room.

·         Please refrain from moving furniture into or out of any of the study rooms.

·         Library personnel monitor group study rooms regularly and may limit the size of the group depending on the size of the room being used.



The study rooms are available until 15 minutes before the Library closes.
