If you want the titles by a specific author, you can do an author search. The author's name must be entered as Last Name, First Name Middle Name. Then click the Author search icon. For example,

There are 60 titles by Mark Twain. 

Please note the "see" and "see also" cross-reference. 
"See" means that the search term is listed under a different name. In this example, Mark Twayn is listed under Mark Twain, you should click on See hyperlinks or the Cross-reference button.
"See also" recommends other topics that have related or additional information. In this example, the "see also" cross-reference recommends you to look under Samuel Langhome Clemens to find more titles by Mark Twain. You can do this by clicking on See also hyperlinks or the Cross-reference button.

If you want to find titles about an author, you need do either a keyword search or a subject search on the author. For example, if you want to find titles about Mark Twain (biography, criticism, etc.), you need to do a  keyword search or a subject search on Mark Twain.
