Begun in February 1957, Wellons Hall was built to house male students and was occupied in the fall of 1958. President Drum, with the assistance of the Laymen's Association, energetically led the Wellons Hall project to completion. Located west of the Aaron Building, Wellons Hall is a three-story brick structure that includes 48 student rooms, a kitchen, a TV lobby, and a study area. Also, there is a three-bedroom apartment and office on the first floor for the residence director. Because of the unflagging support of Mr. Charles R. Wellons, president of the Lay- men's Association, and because of his unselfish contributions in the completion of two dormitories, the new building was named Wellons Hall in his honor. For over 35 years, Mr. Wellons has been vitally involved with the life of Emmanuel College. He has served on the Emmanuel College Board of Education for 28 years, longer than any other person has ever served, which is a powerful indicator of his commitment and support. Currently, Wellons Hall can house as many as 96 men.
