Nash Hall was the first building erected on the Franklin Springs property by the Pentecostal Holiness Church in the year 1919, the same year that Emmanuel College was founded. Nash Hall was built by G.F. Taylor to house the publishing arm of the denomination and was initially called the Advocate Press. Emmanuel College obtained the building from the church in 1949. It was immediately put to use as the college music building and housed the music and drama departments until the summer of 1981 when a fire destroyed the facility. At the time of this tragedy, it was thought that the building would be a total loss; however, the sturdy walls of the original structure remained in place. The facility was restored using the original foundation and walls. As a result of a major financial donation to the college by the Nash family, the building was renamed Nash Hall to honor Rev. and Mrs. Walter J. Nash who, along with their children, have been faithful supporters of Emmanuel for many years. Nash Hall as it appears today resembles the original structure built in 1919. It is currently being used as a prayer chapel. |
