The gymtorium was constructed in stages beginning in 1951 as an open-air tabernacle. Built by the Georgia Conference of the Pentecostal Holiness Church, the Conference allowed the college to use the dirt floor for a basketball court. In 1962 the Conference donated the facility to the college with the understanding that the building would be completed by the College and would be available to the Conference for its annual camp meeting. The facility was fully enclosed in 1963 and had been expanded to include the addition of a student center. The final phase of construction occurred in 1973 when the north side of the building was enlarged to accommodate modern, fold-up bleachers which more than doubled the seating capacity.
