POLITICAL SCIENCE MINORPURPOSE
The purpose of the political science minor is to provide students with a workable understanding of the basic concepts of government. This will include the various forms of government, the dynamics of politics, the impact of media on governance, the American judicial system, parties and elections, and public administration. Political Science courses pre-pare students to analyze systems and structures of government, both past and present. The American political system is exciting, important, and contro-versial, yet, somehow, this government has endured as the oldest democratic government in the world. The many and diverse peoples who have lived under this system have been uniquely and divinely blessed for over 200 years. The Political Science Minor attempts to teach students to seek out why this is true.
GOALS
The political science student has the burden of trying to understand how the structure of govern-ment, the political traditions and customs, the vot-ing habits, and the political processes affect the daily life of the citizens in the community.

The primary emphasis will be on the American Federal System. The Political Science Minor will acquire the knowledge to:
- Distinguish the American Presidential system from all other systems and know the basic struc-ture of the American system.

- Become aware of the dynamics of American pol-itics.
