The English program at Emmanuel College was implemented in 1992 with the first offering of upper-level English courses leading to the bachelor of arts degree in English. One of five baccalaureate programs established that year, the English program has since produced forty-eight graduates who are involved in a variety of educational and professional pursuits. Graduates from the English program have pursued graduate study in English, law, education, and have been employed in publishing, journalism, and other related occupations. In 2001, the professional standards commission approved the offering of an English education degree at Emmanuel College.
