Admission Requirements

 

  • Completion of at least 30 hours of coursework, including EN 101, EN 102, CM 130, Math (see specific program requirements), ED 101, and ED 200
  • Application for admission
  • 2.5 GPA
  • Passing score on GACE Basic Skills Test or exemption (1000 on SAT or 43 ACT English and Math score combined)
  • Portfolio (items required in the portfolio are listed below)
  • Three reference forms: one from an Emmanuel College faculty member, one from an Emmanuel College School of Education faculty member, and a character reference
  • A scheduled interview with the Governance Committee

 

 

 

Initial Portfolio

Required Items

Knowing

  • Unofficial transcript
  • Proof of passing GACE Basic Skills Test or exempting
  • Knowing, Sharing, Caring Paper
  • Philosophy of Education

 

Sharing

  • Final evaluations from cooperating teachers
  • Pictures/proof of work with children or young adults

 

Caring

  • Background check
  • Community service
  • Organization membership

 

Other items to showcase that you will be a “Knowing, Sharing, Caring” teacher may be added, but are not required.

 

The initial portfolio should be submitted to the Governance Committee one week before the scheduled interview.  Interview dates:  January, May, August, and December.

 

The application for admission and the reference forms may be obtained from the School of Education administrative assistant.
