What can I do with this major?
Our first communication major was Phillip Bowen ('98). He is now the Chief Operating Officer of In Touch Ministries, which features Dr. Charles Stanley from Atlanta. Phillip also has served on the Emmanuel College Board of Trustees and as EC's National Alumni Association President.
The day of graduation in May 2006, the Marketing Director of LifeSprings Resources in Franklin Springs, Ga., contracted with Lauren Cox ('06) and Melissa Gay ('06) for a week-long video shoot in North Carolina. The week after returning, LifeSprings hired Melissa to work during the summer in their Graphic Design Department while an employee was on leave. Since then, Melissa has earned her master's in instructional design and development from UGA and is pursuing her Ph.D. in IDD at UGA. Lauren continues to work in layout and design for a local real estate magazine.
Brock Tibbs ('03) worked in EC's Alumni & Development Office for a year after graduation where he was able to further his knowledge and skills in video production and special event planning. In 2005, he became the Multimedia Director of Trinity Church International in West Palm Beach, Fla. He also works as a video instructor at the church's private school.
A month after gradation, Amy Harper ('03) was hired by The DeMoss Group, an international public relations firm who handle accounts like Franklin Graham and Women of Faith. Later that year, Amy took a position as Emmanuel's first full-time Student Activities Director, a part-time position she had held while in school at EC. In 2006, she moved to New York to pursue a Master of Arts in Higher Education Student Personnel Administration, which she completed in 2008 at NYU.
In 2008, Christina Jenkinson Spearman ('01 Valedictorian) completed her Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership at East Carolina University. She also earned her Master of Education in Student Affairs from Clemson University.
