An article in today's Athens Banner-Herald has strong ties to people from EC's Communication Department and the college as a whole. 

Communication Senior Lauren Peeples has written for the daily newspaper in Athens since she was age 15. Today, her article about the talented, young bluegrass band, Exception to the Rule, includes other names we recognize because they attend or have attended Emmanuel College. 

The four band members are Sara Ray ('08), communication alumna; Laura Ray, music education senior; Jason Ray, here two years before transferring; and Kayla Ray, communication sophomore. Even photographer Grant Beecher ('08) is an English education alumnus.

"It's a treat to see our students--some, my very own--who are making news, literally," says Paula Dixon, assistant professor of communication. "Four are the news, one writes the news, and another shoots the news. This is a good example of watching our department's mission come to life as we strive to impact the world for Christ through media."
