Franklin County High School point guard Graham Maxwell recently signed his letter of intent to play for the Emmanuel College Lions Basketball team.

Maxwell averaged fourteen points and six assists this season. He has been named to the All-Tournament Team at Tabo’s Tip-Off Classic in Jefferson, All-Tournament Team at the Swamp Classic in Waycross and First Team 8AAA All Region by Coaches. Maxwell shot 82-percent from the free-throw line and was named Outstanding Offensive Player for 2008.

According to Jason Shaver, FCHS Assistant Basketball coach, Maxwell is a dream player to coach. “He is an extremely hard-working young man with tremendous character,” says Shaver. “Graham sees things happen before they happen. He has a great offensive skill level, because he can penetrate, stop on a dime, pull up mid-range or knock down the three with a high percentage. He works hard and is always asking how he can improve.”

TJ Rosene, Head Men's Basketball Coach at Emmanuel College, says, “We are really excited about Graham committing to us here at Emmanuel College.  We feel like Graham brings so much to the table.  He is the kind of player we feel can succeed here because of his talent but more importantly because of his work ethic and commitment.  Not only does he bring the qualities you desire in a basketball player he is also a stellar person.  He is the kind of young man who fits our mission and will represent the basketball program and Emmanuel College in a very positive way.  I look forward to watching Graham grow as a person and a basketball player during his career here at Emmanuel.  We are excited about this new addition to our family.”

Maxwell moved to Franklin County two years ago from his hometown of Orlando, Florida. He is the son of Chris and Debbie Maxwell of Royston.
