The Emmanuel College (EC) Lady Lions Basketball Team pounced rival AUM Lady Senators (73-49) in Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) in Montgomery, AL, on Thursday, February 28, 2007. The Lady Lions were determined to earn at least a third place ranking in SSAC standings and played to prove that their 22-7 overall, and 14-6 SSAC records were well-earned. The Lady Lions shot 53% from the floor, with 15 points coming from beyond the 3-point line.

Felecia Towler led the Lady Lions’ offensive attack with 12 points; shooting 60% from the floor and going 2-for-2 from the free-throw line. Felecia also grabbed 2 rebounds, blocked 2 shots, and collected 2 steals. Jasmine Barner netted 11 points, grabbed 3 rebounds, and collected 1 steal. Tenea Mann and Ashley Jackson netted 8 points each. Tenea grabbed 3 rebounds and handed out 2 assists, while Ashley pulled down 6 rebounds and handed out 2 assists.  RaShunda Laster pulled down 7 rebounds, and handed out 4 assists. Coach Bona and the Lady Lions will be participating in the SSAC tournament on March 6, 7, & 8. Lee University, Cleveland TN, is hosting the SSAC Women’s tournament. The Lady Lions, National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) South Region Champions, will be traveling to Oakland City, IN on March 13, 14, & 15 to participate in the NCCAA women’s tournament.

Brittany Freeman led the Lady Senators attack with 16 points while pulling down 5 rebounds and handing out 2 assists. Brittany Moore netted 11 points, pulled down 4 rebounds, handed out 2 assists, and collected 2 steals. Melanie Gess scored 7 points and pulled down 5 rebounds. The Lady Senators overall record dropped to 11-17 and 6-13 in the SSAC. Coach Steve Crotz and the Lady Senators will host SSAC rival Brenau University Golden Tigers in Montgomery on Saturday, March 1^st with tip off set for 2PM.
