The Emmanuel College (EC) Lady Lions Basketball Team simply outran and outscored (70-47) the well-disciplined Brenau University Golden Tigers in Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) rivalry action in the EC Lions’ Den on Tuesday, February 26, 2008. The Lady Lions came out of the locker room on fire and the Golden Tigers just could not recover.

Felecia Towler led the Lady Lions attack with a double-double: scoring 11 points and pulling down 12 rebounds. Felecia also dished-out 2 assists and blocked 2 shots. Shekela Bradley netted 14 points, and grabbed 1 steal. Caneisha Bell scored 10 points; shooting 4 for 4 from the floor and 2 for 2 from the free-throw line. Caneisha also pulled down 4 rebounds and handed-out 1 assist. Tenea Mann scored 9 points, pulled down 5 rebounds, handed-out 3 assists and blocked 1 shot. Mallory Hill scored 9 points and pulled down 3 rebounds. Whitley Wright netted 6 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, and handed-out 1 assist. The Lady Lions improved their overall record to 21-7 and 13-6 in the SSAC. Coach Bona and the Lady Lions will be participating in the SSAC tournament on March 6, 7, & 8. Lee University, Cleveland TN, is hosting the SSAC Women’s tournament. The Lady Lions, National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) South Region Champions, will be traveling to Oakland City, IN on March 13, 14, & 15 to participate in the NCCAA women’s tournament.

Sarah Ledford led the Golden Tiger scoring attach with 14 points. Sarah also blocked 2 shots, grabbed 2 steals, and pulled down 2 rebounds. Lori Pope netted 12 points and grabbed 4 steals. Tori Collins scored 9 points, pulled down 4 rebounds, and handed-out 3 assists. Meg Hanson pulled down 6 rebounds, handed-out 5 assists, and blocked 1 shot. The Golden Tigers’ record is 16-13 overall and 8-11 in the SSAC. Coach Gary Bays and the Golden Tigers will be travelling to Montgomery, AL to face-off with SSAC rival Auburn University @ Montgomery (AUM) Lady Senators on Saturday, March 1, with tip-off set for 2 PM.
